Our Experts

The dedicated teams of breast health experts at Mercy Health Comprehensive Breast Center focuses on breast health diagnosis and management. Nothing else.

Multidisciplinary Breast Team

Should your screening or risk turn into a diagnosis, every breast cancer patient at our Mercy Health Comprehensive Breast Center is given access to a Multidisciplinary Breast Team, whose main focus is you and your recovery. We get to know you and every detail of your diagnosis, and we tackle it together.

This multidisciplinary team would include: breast surgeons (including West Michigan's only fellowship-trained breast surgeons), medical oncologists, radiation oncologists, radiologists, pathologists, plastic surgeons, nurses, nutritionists, breast care educators, a genetic counselor, oncology social workers, a spiritual care coordinator, and other staff dedicated specifically to treatment and care of breast cancer and breast health. With the complexity of cancer care, these specialized healthcare professionals help to provide a continuum of care through diagnosis, treatment, and recovery.

Guidance Along the Way

Our Comprehensive Breast Centers have Nurse Navigators who work to coordinate all aspects of care. We also staff masters-level social workers to assist with the emotional aspects of your cancer journey. We have a spiritual care coordinator who is a board certified chaplain available to assist with spiritual aspects through cancer.

A multidisciplinary team is composed of members from different healthcare professions with specialized skills and expertise. The members come together and coordinate and communicate with each other to provide the highest quality patient care.
